Seussical
Winter 2026 MainStage
Directed by Lori Stokes & Courtney Stokes
Choreography by Francesca Cipponeri
Music Direction by Nancy Godfrey
ABOUT THE SHOW:
Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime), have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.
Seussical is fun for the whole family! Performers of all ages will be excited to portray the characters from the familiar Dr. Seuss fables. This musical provides wonderful creative opportunities for set, lighting and costume design.
ABOUT MAINSTAGE PARTICIPATION:
MainStage musicals at StarStruck are an unforgettable experience for the whole family as we create a Broadway caliber musical production to be performed on the big Smith Center stage at Ohlone College. After passing an initial audition, actors are required to be available to rehearse up to 4 days per week at the Fremont StarStruck Studios (September-December), and 6-7 days/week once we're at the theatre for technical and dress rehearsals. The cast is mostly actors who have participated in several classes, camps, or MainStage musicals (at StarStruck or other theatre companies), but on occasion a few theatre new-comers have been admitted as well. While rehearsals can be demanding, young actors learn the importance of time management and confidence of doing what they love while making friendships that will last a lifetime. Check out this article to see the 25 life skills that are learned when participating in a theatrical production.

You will need to provide your own sheet music in a 3-ring binder (be sure it is printed double-sided and has both right and left hand accompaniment lines, not just a vocal line). Pick a song that is appropriate for your age and shows your range (vocal and emotional). Tell us a story through music. An opportunity to run through your song selection with our vocal director on a date prior to auditions is available at no charge. Details on how to sign up will be sent in your audition time confirmation email.
