Improv/Acting Teaching Artist

StarStruck Theatre in Fremont, CA is seeking an experienced Improv/Acting teaching artist for our beginner to intermediate level classes: “Theatre Games” for ages 8-12,  “Improv” for ages 12-18, and “Acting” for ages 12-18.

The ideal candidate:

  • Loves theatre & working with children
  • Is a fantastic leader, communicator, and team player
  • Creates both weekly and daily schedules for their team
  • Is an experienced performer
  • 3+ years experience teaching theatrical classes & camps for ages 8-18
  • 2+ years improv experience 
  • 1+ year theatre directing experience

Class Dates: Tuesdays, September 3-November 5, 2024

Time: 3:45-7:00pm (three 45 minute -1 hour classes)

Location: StarStruck Studios, Fremont, CA

Employment Type: Contract, with opportunity to extend through the year

Compensation: $30-50/hour (based on experience)

Documents Needed: Live Scan, W4

Duties include:

  • Maintain consistency through all class sessions 
  • Collaborate with StarStruck's Artistic Team on all elements of the class from planning through performance content
  • Create semester outline and daily schedules for the team
  • Lead Warm-ups & Theatre Games
  • Coach improv exercises and acting coaching that meets or exceeds StarStruck's artistic standards
  • Assist in pulling/creating costumes, props, and set pieces as needed
  • Manage young actors and potential high school-aged teaching assistant(s)
  • Be a kind & helpful role model for all!

Camp Counselors/ Teaching Assistants

Teaching assistants (TA's) are high school and college age students who are are a vital part of the success of classes and camps at StarStruck. TA duties include arriving early to set up the studio, checking in students, helping manage student behavior, demonstrate songs/dances, leading theatre games/warm-ups, supervising lunch and snack breaks, and acting as tech crew for performances at the end of the semester/camp session. More experienced TA's may also be responsible for light directing, choreography, or music directing duties. 


Can I be in the MainStage and TA??
Being a TA while rehearsing for a MainStage is not for the faint of heart, but it is a lot of fun!

Teaching Artists & Summer Camp Directors

StarStruck Theatre in Fremont, CA is seeking talented, positive, and passionate Teaching Artists for our 2025 summer camps (June- August) and classes (September-November).

The ideal candidate:

  • Loves musical theatre & working with children
  • Is a fantastic leader, communicator, and team player
  • Creates both weekly and daily schedules for their team
  • Is a triple threat performer
  • 3+ years experience teaching theatrical classes & camps for ages 6-14

AND/OR

  • 2+ years directing experience 
  • 1+ year musical theatre choreography experience
  • A MFA, BFA, or BA in Musical Theatre, Drama, Dance, or other performing art specialty

Time: Varies by semester. 

  • Fall/Winter Classes meet 1x/Week for 10-12 weeks. Class hours are usually 3:45-6:16pm on weekdays only.
  • Summer Camps meet for 1 week or 3-4 week sessions. M-F approx. 9am-3pm

Location: StarStruck Studios, Fremont, CA

Employment Type: Contract, with opportunity to extend through school year

Compensation: $25-$50/hour

Duties include:

  • Maintain consistency through class sessions

  • Create weekly and daily schedules for the team
  • Lead Warm-ups & Theatre Games
  • Create and teach blocking/choreography that meets or exceeds StarStruck's artistic standards
  • Assist in pulling/creating costumes, props, and set pieces as needed
  • Manage young actors (ages vary by class) and teaching assistants (Ages 15-18)
  • Be a kind & helpful role model for all!
